The University of Moratuwa (UoM) signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Romasha Engineering (Pvt) Ltd on 18th August 2025 at the Vice Chancellor’s Board Room, marking another important milestone in technology transfer and industry collaboration.
Representing Romasha Engineering, Mr. Roshan Vithanarachchi, CEO, attended the signing ceremony. Representing the University of Moratuwa were the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Dr. Indoka Manthilaka , the lead academic behind the innovation – along with Dr. Ajith Pasqual, Director of the Enterprise Unit, and Ms. Amali Hettige, Manager of the Enterprise Unit.
The agreement grants Romasha Engineering exclusive rights to the University’s applied design intellectual property for a period of 10 years. Demonstrating their strong commitment, the company has already invested over LKR 20 million in the initial development phase and has recruited a recent UoM graduate, who contributed to the project, as a full-time engineer for further development work.
This agreement is the result of multiple rounds of discussions between the University and the company to identify the best approach for commercialization. With this successful transfer, UoM continues to strengthen its role in enabling research-driven innovations to make a tangible impact on industry and society.
