The University of Moratuwa signed an Exclusive Licence Agreement with EXOGENIC (Pvt) Ltd on 22 January 2026 at the Vice Chancellor’s Office, marking another milestone in supporting student innovation and technology commercialization through the Enterprise Unit.
EXOGENIC (Pvt) Ltd, a startup established by University of Moratuwa students, was granted an exclusive license for its prosthetic arm technology, which originated as a final-year undergraduate project. The invention is currently the subject of a pending patent application, and the license has been granted based on the university’s intellectual property rights in accordance with its Commercialization Policy.
The agreement was executed under the University’s First Right of Refusal provision for startup companies, enabling the student founders to develop further, prototype, and commercialize the technology through their own venture while maintaining a structured partnership with the university.
The license agreement was signed by the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the University of Moratuwa and representatives of EXOGENIC (Pvt.) Ltd. at the signing ceremony.
This agreement demonstrates the university’s commitment to transforming student research into real-world innovations by supporting startup creation, protecting intellectual property, and providing commercialization pathways that enable promising technologies to reach society. Through the Enterprise Unit, the University continues to empower student entrepreneurs to translate their ideas into sustainable and impactful ventures.
