The University of Moratuwa (UoM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with JF&I Packaging (Pvt) Ltd on 29 September 2026 to strengthen collaboration in research and development, with a particular focus on the Centre of Excellence in Packaging at the University of Moratuwa.
The MOU formalizes the outcome of a series of discussions between the University and JF&I Packaging aimed at establishing a structured framework for future collaborative research. The collaboration is expected to provide a foundation for jointly developing and implementing research projects with clearly defined objectives and planned outcomes, while strengthening the link between university expertise and industry needs.
The negotiation and coordination of the collaboration were facilitated by the Enterprise of the University of Moratuwa, supporting the parties in developing a more formal and sustainable framework for future research engagement.
The MOU was signed at the Vice Chancellor’s Board Room, University of Moratuwa, in the presence of the Vice Chancellor and representatives of JF&I Packaging. The University delegation included Dr. Sumanthri Samarawickrama and Dr. Mahakalanda, representing the Centre of Excellence in Packaging, together with Dr. Ajith Pasqual, Director – Enterprise, and Ms. Amali Hettige, Manager – Enterprise.
This collaboration marks an important step towards building a stronger foundation for industry–university research partnerships and creating opportunities for impactful research and innovation in the packaging sector.
