The University of Moratuwa successfully hosted Entrepreneurship Day 2026 on 14th May 2026 at the Rupert Peiris Auditorium, bringing together leading entrepreneurs, industry experts, investors, academics, and students for an evening dedicated to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among undergraduates.
Organized to raise awareness of entrepreneurship as a rewarding career pathway, the event encouraged students from all disciplines to explore how the technical knowledge and skills gained at the University can be transformed into innovative solutions for real-world challenges. With the rapidly evolving technological landscape, particularly the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), the event emphasized the importance of innovation, adaptability, and entrepreneurship in shaping future careers.
The programme featured two panel discussions, six entrepreneur talks, and an interactive networking session, providing students with valuable opportunities to learn directly from experienced entrepreneurs and engage in meaningful discussions.
The panel discussions focused on two key themes:
- Product Market Fit and Early Stage Survival
- Funding and Scaling
The discussions highlighted practical experiences, challenges, and lessons learned in building and growing successful ventures, offering students first-hand insights into the entrepreneurial journey.

The panel discussions were moderated by Fayaz Hudah, Founder of Spirallation, Sri Lanka’s first technology accelerator, and Prajeeth Balasubramanium, Managing Partner of BOV Capital and Lanka Angel Network, who facilitated engaging conversations on entrepreneurship, innovation, investment, and business growth.
A highlight of the programme was the informal networking session, where students had the opportunity to interact directly with entrepreneurs, exchange ideas, seek career advice, and build valuable professional connections.
